Kevin Sheedy

Kevin Sheedy

Former Australian rules football coach and player

In the often cut-throat world of VFL/AFL football, Kevin Sheedy is a rare study in longevity. His involvement as a player and coach in the league stretches back to 1967. After retiring as a player, Kevin began his "second life" in football - that of Essendon coach. Appointed in 1980, he has led the Bombers to four AFL flags in a decorated coaching career.

Kevin was by far the longest-serving current coach in the AFL, and the second longest-serving coach in league history; He played and coached in a combined total of 929 games over 47 years from 1967 until 2013, which is a VFL/AFL record.
