The Hon Julia Gillard

The Hon Julia Gillard

Former Prime Minister of Australia

Julia Gillard's term as prime minister was characterised by many social justice initiatives. Amidst the controversies of the hung parliament, and the bitterly fought battles over the role of gender, a raft of socially progressive reforms were given life.

Whatever you think of Julia's politics you'd be hard pressed not to admire her stoicism, her grace under considerable fire, and her ability to roll up her sleeves and get things done.

Reflecting Julia's passion for education, since leaving politics she has taken up a position as Chair of the Global Partnership for Education. She is also Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Adelaide.

Social justice is about closing that gap in ways that are inclusive, empowering and collaborative.
